The MDC has released this list of some of the victims of the political violence in Zimbabwe, which resulted in its leader Morgan Tsvangirai pulling out of the runoff scheduled for Friday.

President Mugabe has declared that the elections will go ahead.

Here is the full list released on Monday by the MDC?s spokesperson in Johannesburg, Nqobizitha Mlilo.

VICTIMS OF POST-ELECTION POLITICAL VIOLENCE: RECORDED DEATHS(CONFIRMED)

The list gives: Name, District, Date of death and Details of incident

He was assaulted by Zanu PF supporters, and sustained bad injuries he was admitted in hospital and died a few days later. Though he was a known TB patient his death was due to the injuries.

They were called to a meeting in the Chaona area by gangs of youths who had come from Mt Darwin in the company of armed soldiers Known MDC supporters were assaulted heavily using gun butts and batons and he died at Howard Hospital the same day.

A large group of Zanu PF youths and War veterans took Tapiwa from his garden where he was working, they ordered him to show them where other MDC supporters where , he refused and they started beating him with sticks and an iron bar, they continued assaulting him into the night and was found dead the following day a short distance from his home.

His mother and father were dragged from bed by Zanu Pf supporters during the night and heavily assaulted . They managed to escape during the attack this angered the group which then set on fire the hut in which the baby was sleeping and was therefore burnt to death.

Was warned that Zanu pf people were looking for him, so he organised to leave the area and go to Harare, He left home with his wife on 23 April on foot, unfortunately the way they took lead them to Bakasa Base where they were captured, their councilor and other people positively identified him as the person they were looking for. they were then assaulted from April 23 until the early hours of April 24. They were then taken by a truck and dumped close to their home. Tennyson passed away a few hours later the postmortem requested by the police showed that he had a broken neck, no arrest were made.

Assaulted with an iron bar at his home and abducted 1day later on his way to the clinic. His wife was carrying him to the clinic on a cart and was blocked at Vhombozi river where Themba was taken away and wife ordered to go back home alone. He was then taken to Magwada torture Base where they gave him rat poison but he did not die, they then gave him pesticide( rogo) and when he did not die they then killed him with an axe after a week.

It was on Monday 28/04/2008 at around 1600hrs when deceased was about to eat his supper when a gang of about 50 people militia lead by Jivas Chiutsi ward 2 Zanu PF councilor took Tom to Vhombozi Primary School where they have set up a base. They assaulted Tom there for about 8 hours they then let him go on the 29 April 2008 and he died on his way home according to headman Makaza . On seeing that TOM had died Jivas Chiutsi and Newton Kachepa took the corpse and dug a 1 metre grave and burried him in Makaza village grave yard. The headman Makaza confessed all this information.

She was pregnant and was heavily assaulted by Zanu PF youth she lost her baby during the attack, was detained and denied medical attention she bled to death.

The four people Cain Nyevhe, Godfrey Kauzani, Chimedza and Better Chokururama were going to Murehwa when the car they were travelling in was intercepted 10 km from Murehwa, by two double cab trucks that had no registration plates. One truck blocked them in the front and the other in the rear. Chimedza and his companions refused to come out of their car but the occupants of the two twin cab trucks smashed the window screen and grabbed them out. They were bundled two in each of the trucks. Better Chokururamas body was found dumped along Chivake river the following morning. and the other two Godfrey Kauzani and Cain Nyevhe's badily mutilated bodies were found on Saturday 17 May dumped in a bush in Goromonzi district .Chimedza is the only one who managed to escape but nobody knows where he is.

He was shot by soldiers at Murambinda growth point when people refused to take orders from soldiers they just started shooting indiscriminately. Taurai was short by private Svosve Mupindu, this ZNA section was under the command of Colonel Morgan Muzilikazi.

Phanuel Mubaira and six other MDC supporters were abducted and taken to Sanye base on May 18, they were assaulted through the night and released the following day on the 19th, on their way Phanuel Mubaira passed out and died before reaching home.

She was abducted and assaulted by Zanu PF youths at Chiguwune shopping Centre on April 11 2008 . They locked her in a room at the shopping centre and made a fire outside the door they then started burning her with plastic all over the body and in the mouth, she died during the torture and they carried her to her home where they ordered Ednas husband to bury her immediately.

He was a teacher at Chimurenga School, he was abducted on the night of April 15, 2008 by Zanu Pf youths and some army members, he was beaten to death soon after abduction.

On the night of April 17 2008 zanu PF youths lead by a neighbourhood watch policeman called Manyika assaulted Britghton's father and mother who fled during the attack leaving brighton aged 4 years sleeping in their hut. On realizing that their victims had escaped they set the hut on fire and Brighton was burnt to death.

He was driving his father's lorry in the evening and was followed by people in a blue truck, they shot him whilst driving he did not die but continued driving he took a side road into a bush and they followed him, his companions jumped of the lorry and ran away but Tafadzwa was injured he could not run so he just managed to get down from the lorry and hide in the bushes. When the murderers got to the lorry they set it on fire and thats when they saw him hiding. they took him away and was found dead the following morning his body dumped at Nyadire river bridge. In Nyamanyora area.

Two people died inside the building 3 were badly burnt and are in hospital. 3 others are missing .

Pamela's Husband is an MDC councilor elect in the Harare South Constituency, she was burnt when the house she was sleeping in was set on fire by Zanu PF supporters , Though she was taken to Chitungwiza hospital after the incident she did not get treatment for more than 48 hours and she died because of the burns. A child Mashoko who was in the same house died at the scene.
