Malema and Kodwa cars burgled

THE homes of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema and Zizi Kodwa, the organisation's former spin-doctor, were burgled last night, the party said today.
Malema's car, which was parked at his garage, was broken into and his ID, passport and bank cards were stolen at his Sandton home during the early hours of today. Kodwa's ID, which was in his car, was also apparently stolen during a burglary at his Fourways house.
The burglaries were reported to the Sandton police station, ANC Youth League secretary general Vuyiswa Tulelo said.
"We hold a firm view that this dastardly act of cowardice is the work of desperate forces who believe they can intimidate us into submission," the organisation said in a statement.
"It is a sad day in our country to realise that we still have apartheid-style tactics where one's residence is ransacked with impunity. We dare these forces of darkness to confront us openly in broad daylight. The Youth League condemns this act of cowardice in the strongest possible terms. An attack on leaders of the ANCYL is an attack on the ANCYL itself," said the statement.
Malema, who has recently come under fire for his comments that he was "ready to shoot and kill" for ANC president Jacob Zuma, had just returned from Pietermaritzburg where Zuma had approached the high court in a bid to have his fraud and corruption case thrown out. Judgment was reserved for mid September.
Inspector Moses Maphakela, the spokesperson for the Bramley police, confirmed the occurance of the burglary at Malema's place, but could not do so when it comes to Kodwa.
He said the police were investigating a case of housebreaking and theft.
