New champion crowned
It was only in the 1980’s when Kroonstad produced a boxing champion. This has changed, because a new Free State boxing champion in the junior featherweight division, Tello “King Razor” Lithebe, was crowned last week at the Bloemfontein Waterfront. Tello “King Razor” knocked out Simon Marthodi in the first round, two minutes and three seconds to win the vacant junior featherweight title scheduled for ten rounds. On the same bill was a women boxer, Tshidi Mokebisi. Mokebisi, also from Kroonstad, defeated Nthabiseng Mafabatho on points in the feather weight division for women over four rounds. She is scheduled to meet a Zimbabwian opponent early in 2009.
