Critics don't like changes. I think people were going to talk about ANC's cabinet in anyway. President JZ made smart choices and I salute him for that. I wish all of them the best of luck and I know they are eager to deliver.
meriam mbali 11/05/2009 13:58 Comment 5
I am very happy for the new cabinet. If Mr Baloyi of Public Service & Administration can change the long service(20 years +) package from getting pens and pencils to money incentives it would be much better.
bathie 11/05/2009 13:59 Comment 6
It seems as if cde mshini is trying to do thingz differently...in a more effective approach.Rural dev portfolio was long overdue.I'm concerned about the implementation of the new ministries. We just have to wait and see as well as supporting and putting all our weights behind comrade Mshini
Sonniah Makhubedu 11/05/2009 14:00 Comment 7
Department of Housing minister must give public servants opportunities to get RDP houses. The salary is too low to qualify for proper loan houses.
ntokozo mkhatshwa 11/05/2009 14:08 Comment 8

Ronel de Wet 11/05/2009 14:11 Comment 9
I'm really concerned about Ms Barbara Hogan being moved to another profile other than Minister of Health, hope the new minister will stand up to the challenge?
peter venter 11/05/2009 14:14 Comment 10
Why did I get this impression that JZ established these new portfolios to cater for certain members of the alliance who wanted positions in his cabinet.
Joseph Motsholane 11/05/2009 14:15 Comment 11
Why not Winnie? she deserve to be one of the cabinet minister. She knew the struggle a lot, she has been fighting for this country than anyone else like her Husband. Please reschedule this cabinet so that Winnie could be one of them.
Rudzani 11/05/2009 14:17 Comment 12

Johncarlos 11/05/2009 14:31 Comment 15
I'm really impressed about the Education split and the people appointed to the positions. I hope the job they do will match their CVs
Nhlanhla 11/05/2009 14:32 Comment 16
This to me is a good sign of a way forward.People like the DA they crush everything the ANC does this is our country and who ever was chosen from any party is fit to hold the position for the sake of our country. The farms need to be used and we needed a strong person to make sure the farmers are looked after and that is the fandamental of any country to tilt their own food.
Currently Disadvantaged 11/05/2009 14:34 Comment 17
I am Currently Disadvantaged and previously advantaged, so now I demand a house, I am going to toi-toi till my demands are met...demand demand, strike AMANDLA... Nothing mentions what the people can do for the country, only how much can be taken from it...EISH...maybe Zuma should read more of Obama's speeches and take a few lessons...
THABO MOLOI 11/05/2009 14:36 Comment 18
THATHA BABA ZUMA THATHA. ITS BEEN A TOUGH ROAD, BUT YOU MANAGED TO MAKE.AYEYE SHILOWA, LEKOTA, ZILLE AND DANDALA AYEYE.

peter venter 11/05/2009 14:39 Comment 20
My concern as well Ronel; was this move a 'slap on the wrist'because she voiced her objection on the governments refusal to grant the Dalia Lama a viza?
Maphuti 11/05/2009 14:41 Comment 21
I think its a good one and we should give them a chance as well to show their leadership. With God on their side i believe they will bring a lot of change to us as South Africans. Congratulations to all of them and all the best!!!

Darwin 11/05/2009 14:43 Comment 23
Wow judging by the level of spelling and grammar demonstrated by the posters the Minister of Basic Education has a massive job.
rakgadi 11/05/2009 14:44 Comment 24
Baba Msholozi uve stood the test of time and u came out a better person. this is definately the start of your long successful journery. we are behind u every step.
Sifiso Mhlungu 11/05/2009 14:45 Comment 25
This will probably be one of the best cabinets in history of South Africa thus far. JZ has ensured continuity on key positions that are mostly linked with the outside world at the same time he has brought about change for the better in other departments that had what other people would call dead wood. Nxamalala!!
Matsie Kgwete 11/05/2009 14:45 Comment 26
I am worried about the cost implication . Companies are reducing staff to cope with the current economic conditions but government which is funded by tax from individuals and companies is increasing their salary bill. I will give them a chance , let's see....
Thukzy 11/05/2009 14:50 Comment 27
Zuma used the strategy he employed when selecting his premiers , he went for the lesser known people , which makes it difficult for the public to know if they were part of the Zuma brigade or not. Imagine the headlines and the noise from the opposition if he were to choose the likes of Buti Manamela , Thulani Nxesi , Tony Yengeni , Ngoako Ramathlodi , etc as part his cabinet.
sid 11/05/2009 14:52 Comment 28
No doubt 70% of this cabinet is by cabalitiy & ability!!!!!! rest favoratism.
Bongani Mdaki 11/05/2009 14:55 Comment 29
Guys really the people deployed in the new cabinet were seen fit enough and potential for the portfolios they are in. Lets us all support them and hopefully they will do what is best for the country. Let us all make South Africa a better place.
Lee 11/05/2009 15:00 Comment 30

sanele zulu 11/05/2009 15:12 Comment 35
I am very optimistic about this new cabinet. This newly appointed cabinet cannot do everything on their own; they also need the people on the ground in order for their work to be a success. They must also know that they are working for the people not for their pockets.
Lesego Ntsie 11/05/2009 15:13 Comment 36
We must give the new president the platform and give him the chance to not only prove that SA can be transformed but that through hard work and perseverance things can happen. We must remain positive that things will change for the better halala Msholozi raise the flag to the union building and lead us into a newly recharged South Africa
rty 11/05/2009 15:14 Comment 37
Why did they bother with such a long (openly discriminating) name such as the Ministry for women, youth, children and people with disabilities? They could have shortened it to the Ministry of All except men. . .
Nolukhanyiso Bangani 11/05/2009 15:14 Comment 38

Change is good I am proud of JZ and MaKhumalo
Sajedah 11/05/2009 15:31 Comment 43
Barbara Hogan was moved off probably because she has demonstrated she is good and results orietated and her new portfolio Public Enterprises is an even bigger challenge. Maybe JZ feels she can get the job done on Public Enterprises. If her change was about the Dalai Lama then she would not be having a job.
Tlangelani Tshabane 11/05/2009 15:45 Comment 44

we need fresh blood and ideas in cabinet and we should stop electing people based on their involvement in the struggle. move forward.
Mduza 11/05/2009 16:07 Comment 48
Maybe the "some" white people of this country as well as the sceptics and critics need to start focusing on the job at hand and help in building this country. Focus your energy on building something positive instead of wasting enegry blabbing!! I support the postive step towards re-building this country. Thus we are seen as a lazy nation. Vuka uzenzele!!
Mpho Mothibi 11/05/2009 16:08 Comment 49
Congratulations and Goodluck for the tasks ahead. you have proven to us that you have what it takes to address challenges facing our country and your selection of cabinet reflects exactly that. we will lend our support to ensure that your vision is realized. together we can do better. Santa 11/05/2009 16:32 Comment 53
Shouldn't there be a quota system when picking the cabinet? A certain amount of each ethnicity? Just wondering...
joseph Ntsike 11/05/2009 16:32 Comment 54

mapule tembo 11/05/2009 16:38 Comment 57
i hope to see rdp houses distributed fairly ,gorv employees removed from them , and everyone given a fair chanse when it comes to tender allocations. lastly let the social services speed up the process of grant given to orphans cause one waits for more than 9 months for them to be approved. wishing our new president well , i wish he could have left the minister of science & technology for another term he was well suited for that position. let us strive to build a better sa .
DANIEL MATSHUBENG 11/05/2009 16:43 Comment 58

As the country is wondering how will uMsholozi run the state. Do they remember how T.Mbeki did it. No matter how far our expections can take us, uMsholozi can and will run the state." Good thought are no better than good dreams, unless they be executed"

A carefully thought out cabinet. The only change I would make would be to swop minister of Telecoms with that of Defence. All in all a great team with the necessary focus to deal with our Poverty challenges!
Ngubane 11/05/2009 17:12 Comment 64
U-Zuma is the man amongst men-indonda emadodeni! He also got respect for his predecessors. He surprised me. I thought he was gonna go down but today His highness is in the biggest office in the world. I am not saying give him a chance, cause he has already started doing good just by appointing capable MP's. My President!
xolani Hlongwa 11/05/2009 17:22 Comment 65
Thank you! hoping that Sonjica will soon sort out that problem of Dukuduku area nearby St. Lucia Wetland Park. All the best to the whole elected Cabinet
